The 16th annual Mission Hills Garden Walk, Beyond the Gate is scheduled Saturday May 10,
from 9.00 am-4.00 pm. This popular event is a 2.5 mile walking tour that starts at the Mission
Hills Nursery and follows a leisurely path through Mission Hills. This year we have 10 beautiful
and varied gardens for your enjoyment. There will also be artists painting and musicians
performing for your enjoyment.
Beyond the Gate homes include a variety of landscapes that will inspire all garden enthusiasts.
Our goal is to present to you a diverse group of landscapes and to show all possible options for
your own gardens. You will see interesting uses of succulents, perennials, and tropical plants at
the homes, large and small. The range of homes includes large estates, cottages, and homes on
canyons with amazing views. We know you will enjoy seeing Beyond the Gate in Mission Hills.
The Mission Hills Garden Walk is the primary and largest fundraiser for the Mission Hills
Garden Club. Funds generated are used to beautify the Mission Hills community and provide
horticultural scholarships and internships at community colleges. Among other projects, the
Garden Club sponsors the hanging flower baskets in the Mission Hills business district and also
supports the flower wall mural on Goldfinch just south of Sutter. Grant School and many other
local school gardens receive grants and supplies from the Mission Hills Garden Club.
Garden Walk coordinator, Fausto Palafox has been working on the project for nearly a year now
and is looking forward to the big day. Advance tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Mission
Hills Nursery, Walter Andersen Nursery or online, through Paypal, at
www.missionhillsgardenclub.org Tickets can also be purchased for $30 at Mission Hills Nursery
on the day of the walk. Children 12 and under are free, no pets please!
