Colors on Canvas
Wednesday, April 27, 2022
Please join the Mission Hills Business Improvement District on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 as we recognize the hard work and talent of the Colors on Canvas 2022 students, and their art instructors Sarah Ekedal at Grant TK8 School and Jaimee Brant at Paint Box Art Studio. The banners will be professionally displayed at The Frame Maker and will be available for purchase in a silent auction format – or for those who don’t want to risk losing their favorite to someone else, they can buy it at the preemptive price of $150. One must be present at the April 27 event to bid on the banners. Doors will open at 5:30PM. Silent Auction bids will begin at $65. All proceeds go to fund next year’s Colors on Canvas contest.
In the meantime, when you are out and about look up to enjoy the 76 Colors on Canvas 2022 hand-painted banners by student artists that are installed on lamp posts throughout Mission Hills. They will be on display for six weeks, through April 19. Each honors a favorite place in Mission Hills; a park, an event, a neighborhood of homes and street names, and many, many businesses. These banners are representative of the way in which the younger members of the community view and appreciate the place they call home. It is so refreshing to see how much they value and take pride in the environment in which they live.
RSVP to Attend
If you wish to attend the April 27th event, please RSVP to MissionHillsBID@gmail.com with the number of grown-ups and children in your party, along with each of their names.

Don’t Miss Out on Taste 2022
Shop Small is more than just the act of shopping at small businesses. It’s a feeling—of walking into that corner coffee shop where they always know your order. Or it’s settling in at that tiny theater your dad used to take you to. It’s a cause—one that supports local economies and promotes vibrant, diverse communities. And it’s a movement—fueled by individual shoppers, business owners, and organizers who encourage shopping at small businesses all year long because they know it matters.
We also invite you to join us each year in celebrating Small Business Saturday by kicking off your holiday shopping in Mission Hills. This day is a celebration of small businesses and the positive impact they have on communities across the country. An average of two-thirds of every dollar ($0.67) spent at a small business stays in that local community. Your commitment to shopping local for the holidays is an investment in bettering our Mission Hills neighborhood. Mission Hills BID will help launch the holiday season with the delivery of Shop Small Saturday 2021 swag and with local business specials promoted on social media.
