Increased Parking Availability Coming to 700 Block of West Washington Street
At the request of the Mission Hills BID (BID) and the Mission Hills Parking Advisory Committee (MHPAC) the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) has agreed to allow the City of San Diego to remove the red curb along the 700 block of West Washington to increase customer parking inventory, since the MTS bus is no longer using this bus stop.
BID executive director Susan McNeil Schreyer paid a visit to the adjacent retail spaces, Mission Hills Dental Group, Lavish, Venissimo and Starbucks, to meet with owners and managers and find out what type of parking would best serve their needs. The overwhelming response was unanimously in favor of 2-hour metered parking, and changing to the current 15-minute meter to an additional 2-hour meter. Last week a City of San Diego civil engineer measured the space and reported four additional 2-hour meters will be added. A work order has been submitted and we are expecting the installation will happen within a few weeks. If you notice any elongated red zones which could be turned back into parking spaces, please let us know and we will work to make it happen.
