San Diego City Council unanimously supports City-developed Parking Amendments

San Diego City Council voted to amend Municipal Code, Council Policies, and a Fee Update Resolution related to parking, traffic movement and control, residential parking programs, and valet parking.

On Monday afternoon, June 2, 2025, the San Diego City Council unanimously supported City-developed Parking Amendments to Chapter 8, Articles 2 and 6 of the Municipal Code, and Council Policies 100-18, 200-4, and 200-15, and a Fee Update Resolution relating to General Parking Regulations, Traffic Movement and Control, and Residential Parking Programs and Valet Parking.

These amendments allow the City to further increase the cost to park on public streets, add more multi-pay parking stations, and add more parking meters in places they have not previously existed, charge for public parking spaces on Sunday, and much more.

Some say we have enjoyed low parking fees for way too long. Others say car owners should not have to pay to park on public streets.

We at the Mission Hills BID and Mission Hills Parking Advisory Committee will be updating this page as we learn of additional changes which impact those driving into Mission Hills and using public street parking.

We want you to know we were not involved in the development of these changes and opposed these changes when they were presented to the City Council for a vote on June 2 .

We also want you to know that we appreciate you and welcome you to enjoy our more than 460 small businesses which comprise the Mission Hill business district.
